We are seeking a talented and experienced Big Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms for our new luxury hotel and resort. This strategic role is essential during the pre-opening phase, enabling data-driven decision making across revenue management, guest personalization, marketing, operations, and business intelligence.
As Big Data Engineer, you will work closely with the Senior Delivery Manager, Database Administrator, DevOps Engineer, Senior API Engineer, Business Analyst, and Digital Marketing team to transform raw data from PMS, Magento 2, booking engines, CRM, and other systems into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
Data Pipeline Development
Design, build, and optimize large-scale data ingestion, processing, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
Integrate data from multiple sources: PMS (Opera), Magento 2, frontend analytics, mobile apps, payment systems, and IoT/operational sensors.
Big Data Platform Architecture
Implement and manage modern data platforms on AWS (S3, Glue, EMR, Redshift, Athena, Lake Formation, Kinesis, etc.).
Develop real-time and batch processing solutions using Spark, Kafka, and Airflow.
Data Modeling & Analytics Support
Build robust data warehouses, data lakes, and dimensional models to support BI, reporting, and machine learning initiatives.
Enable guest 360° view, revenue forecasting, personalized marketing, and operational analytics.
Performance, Scalability & Security
Ensure high performance, reliability, and cost optimization of data platforms.
Implement data governance, quality, security, and compliance standards (PCI DSS, PDPA/GDPR).
Support document verification and audit readiness for all data-related processes and integrations.
Collaboration & Delivery
Work in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams to deliver data products.
Mentor team members and establish best practices for data engineering.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
Experience
6–11+ years of hands-on experience as a Big Data Engineer or Data Engineer.
Proven experience building production-grade data platforms in cloud environments (AWS strongly preferred).
Experience in hospitality, e-commerce, or customer analytics is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills
Expert in Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Airflow, and SQL.
Strong proficiency with AWS Big Data services (EMR, Glue, Redshift, Athena, Lake Formation).
Solid experience with Python/Scala/Java, data modeling, and ETL tools.
Knowledge of Magento 2 data schema, PMS systems, and real-time streaming is highly desirable.
Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and data governance frameworks.
Language & Soft Skills
Excellent command of English (spoken and written). Vietnamese is a strong advantage.
Strong analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced pre-opening environment.
