We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and reliable Janitor and Cleaner to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall sanitization of our facility. In this role, you will be responsible for executing heavy-duty cleaning tasks, maintaining indoor and outdoor building areas, and ensuring that all spaces meet strict hygiene standards. You will balance routine daily maintenance with unexpected cleaning needs, operating specialized equipment and handling cleaning chemicals safely. If you possess a strong sense of responsibility, physical stamina, and a commitment to creating a clean and welcoming environment for staff and visitors, this is an outstanding opportunity to support our daily operational success.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Cleaning & Sanitization: Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors, carpets, and hallways; dust and sanitize furniture, fixtures, countertops, and high-touch surfaces daily.
Restroom & Common Area Maintenance: Clean, disinfect, and restock restrooms, breakrooms, and cafeterias, ensuring soap, paper towel, and toilet paper dispensers are always filled.
Waste Management: Empty trash cans, replace liners, and transport garbage and recyclable materials to designated disposal zones or outdoor dumpsters.
Heavy-Duty Floor & Window Care: Operate specialized cleaning machinery such as floor buffers, industrial vacuums, and pressure washers; clean interior and accessible exterior windows and glass surfaces.
Minor Maintenance & Repairs: Perform basic building upkeep tasks, such as replacing light bulbs, clearing minor drain clogs, or fixing loose fixtures, and report major repair needs to management.
Chemical & Supply Inventory: Safely handle, mix, and store chemical cleaning solutions according to safety guidelines (MSDS); monitor cleaning supply levels and request restocks ahead of time.
Safety & Hazard Mitigation: Respond to immediate cleaning emergencies, such as spills or broken glass, and set up safety signs (e.g., "Wet Floor") to prevent slips, trips, and accidents.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience; official training or certification in industrial cleaning or chemical safety (OSHA standards) is highly preferred.
Experience: 1–3+ years of experience in commercial, institutional, or industrial cleaning (e.g., offices, schools, warehouses, or hospitals).
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in operating heavy cleaning equipment like floor scrubbers, commercial buffers, and industrial carpet cleaners.
Comprehensive knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper dilution ratios, and safe handling practices for various surfaces.
Basic understanding of building security protocols, such as locking up facilities and setting alarms after hours.
Personal Attributes:
Excellent physical health and stamina; capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and standing for entire shifts.
Strong attention to detail, taking pride in spotting and cleaning areas that others might overlook.
Highly reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to a strict cleaning schedule.
Good interpersonal skills to interact professionally and politely with facility occupants and guests.
